Natural homes offer us the potential to live more comfortably and in a low carbon way.  The biggest barrier to living in a natural home is often inflated land values that make homes unaffordable.  Policy changes are needed as well as further experimentation with community land trusts, low carbon development zones and planning covenants.

Communities like Lammas in Wales are pioneering in this area as is the Welsh Assembly who have introduced new policies to support low impact development. Low impact development is recognised by Welsh Planning as key to the transition towards a low carbon society. expiration of domains  TAN6 (the one planet development policy) cover all of Wales.  It supports building in open countryside where there is clear commitment to sustainable living, natural building techniques, and land-based livelihood.
